Energy - Hydrogen

A hydrogen economy requires a sustainable source of hydrogen, and there are a number of routes for its production. This may take the form of green, blue, or turquoise hydrogen. Green hydrogen relies on the use of electrolyzers to separate water using renewable power, and this is the most direct route for sustainable hydrogen production. End-uses could include powering the transport sector, use as an energy vector or use in industry or as an industrial feedstock. Improvements to fuel cell and electrolyzer technology and hydrogen storage and distribution will be needed to allow the widespread adoption of sustainable hydrogen, but several governments continue to make plans for the creation of a hydrogen economy.
